Our Story

" We're not laughing because we are happy, we're happy because we laugh! "

- Cathy

Founder

Cathy is a laughter yoga instructor from the North Side of Dublin, Ireland. She is active and dedicated in community activities and volunteering in local community groups. Cathy is also active in education and after-school activities.

At a time when she thought both her life and career were at their peaks, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, seemingly plummeting her life to rock bottom instantly. She went from doing everything possible to struggling to carry out simple tasks. By chance, Cathy came in contact with laughter yoga at a cancer conference. She fell in love with this activity and has devoted her entire being into it ever since.

In her classes, she works with people of all age and gender groups. She hopes that through laughter yoga, she can help people with physical and mental disabilities thrive. Through laughter yoga, Cathy wants people to feel that they can do anything.

Our Team

Mary Ananda Shakti is the initial founder of Laughter Yoga Ireland, establishing it in 2003. A former Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, she realized her life had become too serious, prompting a quest to infuse more joy and laughter. In 2002, she trained with Dr. Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga International, becoming known as a laughter blaster and a Guru of Laughter. Mary organized her first laughter party in January 2003, leading to the birth of Laughter Yoga Ireland. Over the years, she trained numerous Laughter Yoga Leaders and remains active in the field. Additionally, Mary is a subconscious transformer, energy psychologist, mindfulness teacher, and a graduate of the Neuroscience Academy. As she steps back in retirement, Cathy Moore, a certified Laughter Yoga Leader, takes over, continuing Mary's legacy with her dedicated and compassionate approach to spreading laughter and joy.
